White Oak Tree

The White Oak Concerts is named for the White Oak Tree which once populated the banks of the White Oak Bayou , a waterway that runs through central Houston.   The White Oak is a long-lived tree, some known specimens attaining the age of 600 years.  Its wood is valued for its density, strength, and resiliency and its acorns are highly valued by many species of wildlife. The White Oak is sometimes presented in mythology as having mystical attributes that protect against evil.
