Welcome
The White Oak Trio is a Houston based professional music ensemble formed by three musicians: Steven McMillan, violin, Meryl Ettelson, piano, and Martha Lisle, cello. The unique and colorful combination of these three instruments (violin, piano, and cello) has long inspired composers to produce some of their greatest works. The White Oak Trio follows an original artistic journey through this great repertoire based on the musical instincts of its players. Programs are created to provide the players and listeners with a wide and interesting spectrum of textures, colors, and moods.

The trio provides the highest standards of ensemble playing through careful preparation and frequent rehearsal. They perform at venues all over Texas and neighboring states. A program by the White Oak Trio lasts for about an hour and a half, contains approximately 70 minutes of music, and is often accompanied by the wry introductory comments of their raconteur violinist. Several composers have written pieces especially for the group: David Bernstein‘s arrangement of Estrellita, was premiered in 2008 and in 2009 his Winter Sunlight and Shadow will be premiered at the Modern Music Foundation Concerts in Houston. Also premiering will be a new piece by Mary Carol Warwick.
The White Oak Trio is available for concerts, recitals, master classes, and other events.
